Inte alls samma som hemma.
Man skrattar “Vilken värld! Trump, Assad, Erdogan, Duterte, Kim Jong, Putin, ISIS..vilken värld!”
“Och alla wazungus/utlänningar/ som kommer hit, som inte fattar att Afrika är en kontinent… De hör om något här…också tror dom att det gäller hela Afrika!…”
“Omskärelse på flickor är förbjudet enligt lag i Tanzania…sällsynt i stan…men förekommer i smyg i byar på landet…”
TV-kanaler följer klimatförändringar… vad som händer i Marrakesh just nu…. CLIMATE SOS.
“De korta regnen, som vi hoppas på här i november, är inte pålitliga längre. Men vi har lärt oss mycket om konstbevattning, så vi har mat till oss själva…och kan exportera massor.”
“Vi har stora problem med trafiken i stan, men vi har helt stängt av all trafik på flera huvudgator i Dar och där går snabbussar /mwendo kasi/ och folk gillar dem. Många lämnar bilen hemma.”
Inge och jag ser de blå, nya, täta snabbussarna, t ex här på Morogoro road där vi bor just nu, jag gick lite nära trottoarkanten idag…och kände trycket från snabbussen som svepte förbi! Folk får kasta sig undan!
Man bygger en jättebro mellan Oyster bay och City. Över havet, för att avlasta. “Subiri kidogo…säger man.. Ja, ja, vi får se…!”
Planer på en viadukt över en jättestor korsning som nu är en verklig trafikpropp.
Kan inte låta bli att jämföra med snacket hemma i Malmö…när man byggde några refuger för att smala ner gatan och lugna trafiken. Och byggde mer cykelbanor. Vilket liv det blev!
Stora förändringar här! Tror nästan de gamla indiska kvarteren inte kommer att finnas länge till. Vi bor på Morogoro road mellan Jamhuri street och Samora Machel Avenue. Mitt i det indiska. Ser hur det omringas av det nya moderna. Då finns chansen att få vatten o avloppssystem att fungera.
På TV visas program från Indien. Giftig smog i Delhi och Bombay. Hur indierna vänder sig till Kina som lyckats vända på situationen. Hur kineserna resolut stängt ner stora fabriker. Barnen som aldrig sett en blå himmel och gått till skolan med mask, nu kan leva ett friskare liv.
Intressant också att se hur miljöexperter diskuterar problem och idéer live via Skype. Experter från olika kontinenter…klarar mycket via internet.
Man säger “Se hur Europa tjatar om vem som ska ta emot/avvisa asylsökande…vänta tills miljoner klimatflyktingar kommer!”
Vi jämför alla möten i Köpenhamn…Rio…Marrakesh. Hur långt har man kommit där?
Ja, ja…ville skriva lite om nyhetsflödet här i Dar.
Vi följer naturligtvis valet i USA. /

TV about climate change … what happens in Marrakesh right now …. CLIMATE SOS.

“We have big problems with traffic in town. Now we have completely closed several main streets in Dar. No cars or mc are allowed there. New fast buses go there / Mwendo kasi / and people like them. Many leave the car at home.”
We see the blue, new, fast buses here on Morogoro road where we stay… I walked too close to the curb … and felt the pressure from the express bus that raced past! People may jump away!
They build a huge bridge between Oyster Bay and City. Above the sea just to unload traffic. “Subiri Kidogo … people say .. Yes, yes, we’ll wait and see …”
Plans for a viaduct over a crossing which is now real traffic chaos.
Can not help but compare with the debate at home in Malmö … when they built some refuges to narrow the street and calm traffic. And building more bike paths. What an endless debate it was!
Big changes here! Think almost the old Indian district will not be for long. We live on the road between Morogoro road, Jamhuri Street and Samora Machel Avenue. In the midst of the Indian quarters. Seeing how it is surrounded by the new modern houses. Now there is the chance to get water o drainage system to function.
The TV shows programs from India. Toxic smog in Delhi and Mumbai. How the Indians are turning to China that managed to turn the situation around. How Chinese people resolutely shut down large factories. The children who have never seen a blue sky and gone to school with the security mask now can live a healthier life.
Interesting also to see how environmental experts discuss problems and ideas live via Skype. Experts from different continents … can handle a lot on lite.
They say “See how European countries fight ab. accept / reject asylum seekers … wait till millions of climate refugees are coming!”
We compare all the meetings in Copenhagen … Rio … Paris…Marrakesh. How far have we got there?
Yes, yes … wanted to write about media and news here in Dar.
And of course follow the US election!
